- On the File menu, click New.
- Enter this information:

Insert Plan Guide :
Insert Plan Guide
- On the Designer toolbar, click Tools button.
- From the pull-down menu, select Image Guide .
- Click to indicate the top-left corner of the image.
- Clickto indicate the bottom-right corner of the image.
- The browse dialog box opens.
- Find the folder where you have unzip the files for this
tutorial.
- Select the file: Aerial_Photo.tif.
- Cick Open.
Create the island using levelling tools :
Terrain levelling
- Open TopoBuilder.
- On the TopoBuilder toolbar, click Select Region button.
- Select the island shape by clicking within
the image guide.
- Double-click to close the selection.
- On the Leveller toolbar, enter 2.07 in the Elevation field.
- Click the Add radio button.
- Click the Area button
Import Aerial Photography (ortho) :
Import Aerial Photography (ortho)
- On the Painter toolbar, click the Import button.
- Find the folder where you have unzip the files for this
tutorial,
- Select the file: Aerial_Photo.tif.
- Close TopoBuilder.
Insert Water :
Insert Water
- On the Designer toolbar, click Surface button.
- From the pull-down menu, select Canvas.
- Click to indicate the top-left corner of the surface.
- Clickto indicate the bottom-right corner of the surface.
- Select Water 01.
Change Order
- On the Order toolbar, select Canvas0.
- Click the Move Up button.
- On the Layers toolbar, rename the canvas
to Water.
Change Type
- On the Layers toolbar, right-click to open the context
menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select type Simple.
Elevation
- On the Layers toolbar, right-click to open the context
menu.
- Select Control Points.
- Click the Elevation header to select all.
- Enter 1.5 in the Elevation field.
- Click Ok.
Color
- On the Layers toolbar, click Color check
box.
- Click the color box, select blue.
Insert Trees :
Insert Trees
- Click on Population button in the Designer toolbar.
- Select Forest from the pull-down menu.
- Draw out the area you wish to populate with trees.
- Double-click to finish your area.
- Choose a default tree.
- On the Navigator.
- Press the Ctrl key and click on the trees.
- Select Settings from the pull-down menu.
- Click the Load button.
- Select the file: Trees_Pattern.sfx.
- Select alignment Random.
- Click the Apply button.
Copy/Paste
- On the Designer, right-click the forest shape to open
the context menu.
- Select Copy.
- Right-click on the terrain area in the position you want
to paste the element.
- Select Paste.
Insert City Background :
Insert City Background
- On the Navigator toolbar, select Sky Box .
- The sky box dialog box opens.
- Select "User database" in the database combo
box.
- Enter Name: N1.
- Click the Import button.
- Select the file: North_1.png.
- Click the 1 check box.
- Click the Apply button.
- Enter Name: N2.
- Click the Import button.
- Select the file: North_2.png.
- Click the 2 check box.
- Click the Apply button.
- Enter Height: 170, Elevation: -15.
- Click Ok.
Background Color
- On the Navigator toolbar, select Settings.
- Uncheck Background.
- Click Back color.
- Select More Colors.
- Click Custom tab.
- Click and drag the dropper button over the sky box to select
a color.
- Click Ok.
Insert the President :
Insert Billboard
- Click on Single button in the Designer toolbar.
- Select Billboard from the pull-down menu.
- Click within the terrain area.
- The billboard selection dialog box opens.
- Select "User database" in the database combo
box.
- Enter Name: President, Width: 0.87, Height:
1.87 .
- Click the Import button.
- Select the file: President.png.
- Click Ok.
Change Elevation
- On the Layers toolbar, right-click to open the context
menu.
- Select Settings.
- Enter elevation 3.0.
- Click Ok.
